Canterbury Baseball Association can offer a basic 3 hour scorer's clinic
Scoring is an important part of baseball. A good scorer will help to keep the game flowing, while being able to capture useful information for umpires, coaches and players. Spectators and participants both rely on the scoring team to confirm how a game is progressing.
The CBA competition requires that each team provide at least one scorer for each game. The Baseball NZ National Tournaments also require teams to provide a scorer. Consistency among the scorers is important as the games are officially recorded, and often player statistics are also required. Baseball NZ has standards for scoring which are consistent worldwide.
Canterbury Baseball Association can offer a free 3-hour basic scorer's clinic when required. The course is open to both novices and those who have previous scorekeeping or baseball knowledge, and will provide the minimum information necessary to successfully carry out scoring duties expected in the regular CBA competition. This course will also act as a taster for the more advanced Baseball NZ scoring clinics.
